Private Escorted Tours In New Zealand's South Island With Brent & Elizabeth
Christchurch Taxi Tours & Transfers has evolved over time. In 2004 we started our taxi business. We soon developed a regular private customer base while still working the Christchurch market. Elizabeth would work the early mornings taking people to their early morning flights and I would work the evenings, bringing them home.
Soon, tours became a real passion. Local tours and tours from the Port of Lyttelton were incorporated into our 'taxi' and 'tour' business. Back in 2004/5 the Port of Lyttelton was the only cruise port - but since the earthquakes the Port of Akaroa has come in to it's own, much to the delight of 'cruisers'.
After four years waiting to get our house repaired following the devastating 2010/11 earthquakes, we decided instead of downsizing to a house more suitably sized for two old has-beens, to sell up and move our business to Queenstown, our teenage playground and where we went on our honeymoon, 40 years earlier.
We loved Queenstown in every way, except when it came to buying a house. Prices almost doubled while we were looking. It was two and a half hours to the nearest hospital (something to be considered when your nearing Gold Card Status) and the nearest retirement facility was 40 km away. The cons out weighed the pros and in 2017 we decided to sell our taxi business in Queenstown and return to Christchurch, reestablishing our taxi business in the most beautiful city in the world.
Today we live very comfortably in one of the new subdivisions created after the earthquakes.
Elizabeth runs her taxi business and I run Christchurch Taxi Tours & Transfers.
